THE ROLE

This is an opportunity to join the Anaesthetics Department in a modern well-equipped and experience the excellent quality of life of the beautiful and rural Borders area in South East Scotland. You would exercise an intermediate level of accountability and the post will have flexible daytime Theatre / ITU responsibilities and out of hours commitments each week. It may be possible to re‑organise some of these activities to accommodate specialist interests.

Appropriate time is provided for pre and post‑operative care, emergency cover for unseen occasions, audit, administration, teaching and other commitments outside the operating theatre. This includes departmental, educational and service commitments.

You must have full registration with the GMC with a licence to practice with adequate postgraduate training and/or Anaesthetic specialty training programme experience (or equivalent), including adequate experience in Obstetric Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine, to deal with the on‑call requirements. FRCA or equivalent is also desirable.

Out of hours commitments are on a 1 in 7 basis shared with senior trainees, specialty doctors and associate specialist colleagues.
