Your Role

Assist with processing inbound or outbound shipments for Air Gateway Operations. Responsible for documentation and preparation of documents, or document receipt; timely clearance of shipments or traffic coordination to correctly process shipments. Model and act in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.

The description below is a broad job description for Import, Export and Breakbulk positions, which are similar in service to customer accounts, shipments, and regulatory compliance. It outlines the level of positions to advance.

What Are You Going To Do?
  • Create and distribute written exception procedures for handling each account served by the team, including classifications, valuation rules, schedule of fees, correspondence, post entry process, and related information.
  • Assist with overseeing entry processing performance and existing customer service commitments to reflect company databases and pre-load templates.
  • Receive, review, and process complex or sensitive transactions for assigned accounts for all entry types, including classification and valuation of goods.
  • Obtain certification for completing customer classification and other compliance-specific classifications as defined by company product standards.
  • Assist and review work stream development of new and existing accounts, including reviewing documentation, maintaining client communications, reviewing processes regularly, and maintaining client profiles and databases.
  • Process documents through the established system, obtaining releases from government agencies as appropriate.
  • Review and monitor all rejections, requests for information, and other correspondence.
  • Respond and assist with complex customer inquiries, including research and escalation on priority issues.
  • Monitor shipments as they approach non-compliance based on customer control, event control, and transactional data.
  • Stay current of U.S. Customs regulations and classification/validation rules through self-study and regular review of trade publications.
  • Perform Import/Export Team Lead responsibilities when needed.
What Are We Looking For?
  • All roles require understanding of internal processes, best practices, customer service, laws, rules, and regulations. Depending on the area of assignment, roles may include:
  • Air and Ocean Import/Export: greater involvement with quotes, sales leads, and customer onboarding
  • Ocean: chassis and container returns
  • Gateway: booking, monitoring, and transferring loads
  • Brokerage: processing and filing regulatory documents
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software applications. Ability to apply and communicate laws, rules, and regulations for areas of assignment.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Monitor overall processes, information, and operations.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic and analyze documents. Balance team and individual responsibilities with objectivity and openness to others’ views.

Minimum:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Greater than 6 years of related experience
  • Professional certification may be required in some areas

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation, Logistics or Supply Chain Management
  • Experience in Airlines Industry
