Diesel Technician

CXI Trucking Inc., located at 2057 George St., Melrose Park, IL
, is seeking an experienced and skilled Diesel Technician ready to advance into a Lead Diesel Technician role. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional who wants to demonstrate leadership, take ownership of shop operations, and grow within a company that values expertise and initiative.

Position Details
  • Pay Range: $50,000 - $65,000 annually, negotiable based on experience

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM

  • Reports To: Fleet Maintenance Manager

  • Pay Frequency: Weekly pay via Direct Deposit

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on diesel vehicles, including engines, transmissions, steering, and brake systems

  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and conduct failure analysis using precision tools (micrometers, multimeters, and diagnostic equipment)

  • Lead and manage the daily workflow of shop mechanics, serving as the senior/lead technician

  • Ensure compliance with DOT, EPA, ICC, and OSHA regulations

  • Maintain accurate records of services performed, parts used, and repair times

  • Conduct safety inspections and preventive maintenance

  • Assist with roadside service calls and breakdowns as needed

  • Mentor and support technicians, promoting teamwork and efficiency

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment

Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of diesel mechanic experience

  • ASE Diesel Certification (preferred)

  • Valid CDL Class B license (preferred)

  • Advanced knowledge of diesel engines, systems, and diagnostic equipment

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills

  • High attention to detail and proficiency with repair tools

  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment

  • Required to provide own standard mechanic tools necessary for diesel repair
