SURGERY CENTER REGISTERED NURSE (RN) - GI LAB ENDOSCOPY
Position Summary:
To be fully engaged in providing services supporting Quality / No Harm, Customer Experience and Stewardship goals by demonstrating leadership through the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care according to the standards of professional nursing practice. Nursing care is provided to the individual patient based upon diverse patient demographics and needs.
- Demonstrates effective medication management and administration to patients as evidenced by preceptor observation and clinical practice outcomes.
- Demonstrates appropriate delegation and supervision of patient care activities within the healthcare setting.
- Demonstrates effective communication with other members of the healthcare team and promotes effective team functioning.
- Recognizes and resolves safety issues and potential unsafe situations within approved policies, procedures and protocol.
- Actively participates in the development and attainment of department team goals.
- Demonstrates knowledge and adherence to practice standards, care bundles and best practices in delivery of care to patient and family.
- Demonstrates effective critical thinking and prudent judgment in nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, interventions and evaluation of outcomes and adjust plan of care as needed.
- Efficiently and effectively utilizes Health First information systems to access standards of care, enter patient data and care parameters, individualize plan of care and communicate with interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrates effective and safe clinical practice as evidenced by observation and feedback, leader rounding, performance coaching and patient outcomes.
- Helps to facilitate patient / family engagement in self-care through education and teach back as directed by the plan of care.
- Consistently and effectively demonstrates compliance with department service standards.
- Demonstrates personal accountability to use and care for equipment and supplies economically.
- Contributes to unit productivity in favorable way by demonstrating good planning, organization and time management (e.g. incremental overtime). Demonstrates ability to share workload evenly and complete work in a timely manner while increasing productivity as needed to meet patient volumes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education:
Associate’s degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma. - Work Experience:
Two (2) years of experience in critical care, perioperative, or peri-anesthesia areas. - Licensure:
Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Florida or endorsement. - Certification:
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained.
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA ACLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card within 90 day of start date and maintained.
- Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Preferred Qualifications
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently.
- May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
- May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders, or overhead.
- May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
- May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise.
- May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
- Workspace may vary from open to confined.
- May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
