Registered Nurse (RN), Wound Care / WOCN Specialist

Melbourne, FL 32901
Contract: – 13 Weeks
Schedule:
Day Shift |Monday – Friday 08:00 AM – 04:30 PM
Job Summary : The Registered Nurse – Wound Care is a specialized clinical nursing role providing comprehensive wound care, ostomy care, and continence management to patients across a variety of clinical settings. The RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates wound care treatments using evidence-based practice and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The incumbent supports wound consults at Health First facilities and floats as needed based on unit volume and patient demand.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Patient Management
Perform comprehensive wound and skin assessments (e.g., pressure ulcers, neuropathic/arterial/venous ulcers, surgical wounds).
Develop and implement individualized wound care plans, including selection of appropriate dressings and therapeutic interventions.
Manage wound debridement, wound cultures, VAC therapy, and advanced wound treatments as clinically indicated.
Provide ostomy and continence care, including stoma site care and equipment selection.
Educate patients, families, and caregivers on wound care, prevention strategies, and self-care techniques.
Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, treatments, outcomes, and education in the electronic medical record (EMR), including wound staging and Braden scale scoring.
Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida or compact RN license at time of submission.
Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience, preferably in wound care or related acute care areas.
Epic experience required;
Allscripts preferred.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Ability to assess and manage complex wounds and ostomy care.
Certification
Wound Care Certification (WCC) or WOCN preferred and required at time of submission for some assignments.
Wound care / ostomy certification through WOCNCB or equivalent preferred.
