Health First Careers is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team in the Pediatric Unit at our Melbourne, Florida location. As a leading healthcare provider in Brevard County, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care to our patients and their families.
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing direct patient care to pediatric patients in our Pediatric Unit. This is a per diem position, with the potential for full-time employment in the future. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pediatric nursing and a passion for working with children.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide direct patient care to pediatric patients in the Pediatric Unit
* Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
* Monitor patient progress and report any changes to the healthcare team
* Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
* Educate patients and their families on health and wellness topics
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
* Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures
* Maintain a safe and clean work environment
* Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current on best practices and advancements in pediatric nursing
Qualifications:
* Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Florida
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in pediatric nursing
* BLS and PALS certifications
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
* Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays

Work Experience
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED:
* Education:
* Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing.
* Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required.
* BSN highly preferred.
* Licensure:
* Current Florida RN licensure or endorsement.
* Certification:
* Must hold current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain certification(s) as required by specific unit.
* Experience:
* Acute care pediatrics experience preferred.
* Must meet unit specific care requirements.
* Language:
* Must be able to speak / understand written and verbal instructions in the English language.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
* Must have visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform clinical tasks.
* Must have corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
* Must be able to lift, turn, pull, push or ambulate patients/equipment up to 90% of the assigned shift.
* Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted up to 33% of the assigned shift.
* Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and stoop up to 90% of assigned shift.
* Potential for exposure to bio-hazardous waste, and known or unknown diseases.
MENTAL DEMANDS:
* Must have ability to work in often stressful environment with patients/families at various ages and levels of understanding.
* Must have ability to concentrate on multiple priority activities.
* Must have ability to respond appropriately to life threatening situations.
* Must have critical thinking and problem solving skills.
