Job Summary and Overview
The Store operator shall be responsible for the daily planning and directing of resources within the branch to reach assigned sales, profitability, and operational goals. This includes profit and loss responsibility as it relates to branch performance. The store operator is responsible for implementing effective processes aimed at maintaining the inventory integrity and customer service goals established for the branch and is responsible for the planning and directing of all warehouse activities including receiving, receiving inspection, stocking, shipping, delivery, and value-add operations.
The store operator is responsible for helping all walk‑in customers find what they need and checking them out in a professional and courteous way. The recommendations and decisions made by this person will have organization‑wide impact.
Store Operator General Duties
- Customer Service and building strong customer relationships.
- Troubleshooting P21, network, and procedural issues.
- Management of customer service issues and daily operations – shipping and receiving, sales department, deliveries, etc.
Inventory
- Utilizing available resources to maintain an accurate and complete inventory.
- Daily management of the Min by Customer Report.
- Create weekly transfers and inspect & receive all transfers and purchase orders.
- Management of inventory turns.
- Work to eliminate redundant items‑on‑the‑fly.
- Review specific vendors when a product manager makes a visit to the branch.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Bilingual is a PLUS.
- Requires a working knowledge of the industrial supply business.
- Possess excellent organizational skills.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Well versed in problem‑solving techniques.
- Ability to effectively communicate with management and peers.
- Administrative skills including record keeping and report structure.
- Material planning and scheduling techniques.
- Material inspection and evaluation methods and procedures.
- Ability to work directly with employees and maintain a productive employee involvement environment.
- Able to provide coaching and leadership.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm, teamwork, creativity, and will work to create and maintain a climate conducive to an effective and efficient operation.
This role works in a retail store environment with some time spent in a warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach and lift with hands and arms.
The employee may be required to lift up to 50 pounds independently and up to 50 pounds with assistance. While in a warehouse setting, the employee may be exposed to the outdoor weather temperature and loud noise.
