SummaryThe Manager – Special Project Team (SPT) East reports to the Area Director and provides leadership and direction to the Special Project Team members, insuring safe and effective pipeline repairs, replacements, and fabrications consistent with company policies, procedures, and government regulations. The position works with area management and engineering to coordinate completion of Capital and Expense projects while providing O&M support and coordinating emergency response.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Leads and provides safe direction to employees regarding pipeline and compressor facility project work consistent with company and governmental requirements.
- Participates in LOTO, gas handling, and PSSR for maintenance and construction projects.
- On‑call for emergencies or operational assistance.
- Establishes and measures crew goals and performance.
- Conducts personnel reviews and oversees career planning and employee development for crew members.
- Responsible for adhering to O&M and project budgets and helps develop budgets for future cycles.
- Provides guidance to the crew in establishing daily and weekly priorities.
- Ensures the crew has resources and information to make informed decisions regarding day‑to‑day operation of facilities in compliance with all company and regulatory requirements.
- Enforces company policies and procedures and ensures operations are maintained as required.
- Assists in planning and execution of assigned projects across the division.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience and 8+ years of related pipeline industry experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must reside between Atmore AL and Branford FL.
- Ability to operate a computer, copy machine, calculator, telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
- Familiarity with the Federal Code of Regulations for natural gas pipeline construction and operation.
- Ability to work independently, with guidance only in the most complex situations.
- Ability to work within and determine stringent deadlines for others.
- Ability to represent the company professionally with private and public entities and officials.
- Ability to lead and collaborate across functions to improve business processes.
- Work in both office and field conditions.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting, driving, or standing.
- Overnight travel up to 75% of the time.
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Will be required to climb ladders, walkways, or scaffolds.
- Will be required to work within below‑grade excavations.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel long distances.
- Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require location‑specific PPE.
