Certified Medical Assistant - Women's Health
Position Summary:
Provides and ensures patients receive whole care in all aspects of an office visit, including intake, test results, screenings, labs, medication administration, and closure of care gaps. Delivers excellent customer service to patients/families and other care providers with patient-centered focus.
- Accurately prepare and perform point-of-care testing such as urine dipstick, blood glucose, and perform clinical intake including vital signs, medical history, surgical history, social history, and verification of current medications.
- Prepare and administer medications as ordered, utilizing the “6 Rights,” including documentation, coding. Controlled substances, insulin and allergy doses must be checked by LPN, RN or provider.
- Assist with stocking and ordering supplies and maintain equipment; coordinate medical supply ordering with site manager.
- Prepare patients for examination; have pre-work available for provider including notes, diagnostic test results, imaging.
- Track and communicate results to patients, labs, diagnostic studies via phone calls, portal messages or EMR.
- Follow safety processes and infection prevention procedures; complete and document adverse events, infection control and quality control measures.
- Maintain patient flow after check-in; discuss patient flow with physician according to urgency and daily load; assist more than one provider at a time.
- Provide coverage in other areas of the medical group or office to support registration, payment collections, checkout, appointment scheduling.
- Act as liaison between support services and other clinical divisions.
- Provide customer follow-up and education to ensure participation in care and respect needs.
- Education:
Technical Diploma in Medical Assisting. - Licensure:
Medical Assistant Certification (CMA) in Florida. - Certification:
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) completed prior to start and maintained. - Must pass colorblind testing for point-of-care tests requiring color change.
- Strong customer service skills and recovery techniques.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and keyboarding skills.
- Walk, stand, run, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch frequently; lift or move objects up to 50 lbs with or without assistance.
- May lift, turn, pull, push or ambulate people or equipment up to 90% of shift.
- Expose to biohazards such as blood/body fluids; follow OSHA and CDC guidelines.
- Communicate with others to exchange information; visual acuity and hand-eye coordination required.
- May require personal vehicle for travel within and beyond county.
