As a Senior Compliance Specialist in our Melbourne Headquarters
, You’ll be responsible for Home Equity and HELOC loans originated through the Express Services function and ensure a timely closing in order to exceed member expectations; to support all sales efforts of the Express Services staff.

Senior Compliance Specialist Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical direction to Compliance Specialists I and II to ensure consistency, accuracy, and timely completion of compliance-related activities, such as: regulatory change management, compliance testing activities, and complaint management processes.
  • Assist in the development, preparation, and refinement of materials for monthly compliance and risk reporting, including management and committee-level reporting.
  • Lead assigned specialized and complex regulatory projects in partnership with business units and key stakeholders, ensuring requirements are understood, implemented, and completed within established timelines.
  • Engage with Compliance Management Team on enterprise-wide initiatives and strategic projects, contributing subject matter expertise and supporting the ongoing enhancement of the Compliance Risk Management Program.
  • Assist business units with assessing enterprise-wide compliance, including assessing compliance risk management programs as well as targeted regulations and requirements, such as:
    Fair Lending, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Unfair Deceptive or Abusive Acts or Practices, Bank Secrecy Act, and the technical federal and state regulatory laws, rules, and regulations applicable to the Credit Union’s business functions.
  • Lead proposed changes to policies, procedures, and Credit Union training to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Interpret and disseminate information, answer questions, and serve as a subject matter expert for the Credit Union on complex regulatory compliance matters. Serve as a trusted advisor to the various business units across the Credit Union, and partner with them to develop practical solutions to meet compliance requirements and reduce compliance risks.
  • Assist with managing various components of the Compliance Management Program and ensure that SCCU stays compliant with the constantly evolving regulatory landscape, communicate changes efficiently, track and document action plans, and promptly implement any necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain relationships and effective communication with business units across the Credit Union to influence strong compliance standards and consideration of compliance risk.
  • Review Credit Union projects for conflicts with regulatory requirements and guidance, and advise stakeholders of compliance requirements and potential regulatory risks and penalties.
  • Participate in new product development to provide input and expertise regarding potential compliance concerns.
  • Assist in the design and/or revision of forms, disclosures, notices, advertisements, and promotions to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
Senior Compliance Specialist Qualifications
  • Education and Training:
    • Associate’s degree OR certification required (NCCO, CUCE, CRCM, or equivalent credit union or banking certification). Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree and certification.
  • Prior

    Experience:

    • 5-8 years of recent and applicable regulatory compliance experience required in two or more of the following areas: enterprise-wide compliance, compliance risk management, fair lending, HMDA, BSA and UDAAP.
Senior Compliance Specialist Compensation

Starting Compensation: $66,650 - $70,583
