The Assistant Controller supports the organization’s mission to provide superior quality, lasting value, and outstanding customer service through the day-to-day processes that affect Holiday Builders. The Assistant Controller will assist the Controller in the areas of establishing and maintaining the company’s accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Oversee the preparation and evaluation of budgets and other financial operating reports and presents findings and recommendations to top management.
- Ensure that company policies and procedures relating to accounting issues/functions are followed.
- Responsible for month end close, journal entries and uploads of payroll and other financial information.
- Review financial statements and reporting for accuracy.
- Prepare monthly detailed analysis and answer questions related to financials.
- Setup of all basic functions within Mark Systems (accounts, developments, divisions, etc.)
- Prepare and/or review bank reconciliations, sales tax returns, tangible returns.
- Maintain supporting documentation, reporting and correspondence for all external accounting reporting for the company (IRS and FL Department of Revenue).
- Oversees and manages all aspects of payroll tax issues and reporting.
- Backup for payroll processing.
- Assist with annual audit and insurance audits.
- Legal and insurance claim research.
- Provides accurate daily cash analysis and reporting as required.
- Responsible for bank reporting.
- Participate/assist on special projects and research assignments as assigned.
BS or BA degree in accounting or finance, CPA preferred
Minimum 5 – 8 years directly related experience, ideally in the home building industry
Public Accounting experience preferred
Skills/AbilitiesRequires the ability to:
- Demonstrate strong analytical and project management skills
- Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Handle sensitive and confidential information
- Demonstrate strong planning and organizational skills
- Make decisions and resolve problems effectively and efficiently
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining solid business judgment
- Ability to analyze and resolve critical issues with significant organizational impact
- Strong customer service skills. Interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization requiring excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Maintain excellent attention to detail and follow through
Able to lift, push, or move 10 to 25 pounds without assistance
Requires the ability to climb, stoop, kneel or crouch to gain access to equipment, files, and office supplies.
