Overview

As a Senior Process Piping Engineer, you will lead the design of piping systems for launch sites, test stands, and manufacturing, processing, and support facilities. This includes sizing tanks, compressors, pumps, pressure regulators, control valves, vaporizers, heat exchangers, filters and strainers, separators, knockout tanks, phase separators, accumulators, pressure relief devices, vent systems, and manifolds. It also includes selecting instrumentation such as pressure, temperature, flow, and level instruments, transmitters and switches, gauges, control valves and positioners, and associated control and shutdown devices.

You must translate owner requirements into design reality, communicate the design through engineering drawings and specifications, and follow all pertinent codes and regulations. Critical thinking, analytical skills, teamwork and coordination with other disciplines are essential.

Typical Day

You will work in CAD programs such as Revit and Inventor for 3D design, use CAESAR II, AFT Arrow, and AFT Fathom for analysis, along with Nastran and hand calculations. You will also support budget performance, manage team hours, work closely with Project Managers, and serve as the technical interface with clients, leading design reviews and participating in client meetings.

Job Responsibilities Project Leadership and Execution
  • Take process mechanical and piping projects from inception to closeout with minimal oversight, including understanding and or developing the project scope, fee, and schedule.
  • Make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods and represent the company to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work.
  • Monitor project budgets and maintain overall responsibility for profitability, schedules, timely completion, and quality of assigned projects.
  • Assist the National Practice Leader with forecasting workload and resources for assigned projects and/or department.
  • Develop engineering proposals and agreements in conjunction with the National Practice Leader.
Engineering Design and Technical Delivery
  • Apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices across broad assignments and related fields.
  • Design fluid and gas handling systems, including component selection and sizing for compressors, pumps, regulators, control valves, vaporizers, filters, and instrumentation.
