OverviewAs a SME Network Plant Engineer (ISP / OSP), you will serve as the principle authority for the planning, design, implementation, and sustainment of Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) telecommunication infrastructure. This technical role provides enterprise-level expertise to ensure all fiber and copper network plant systems are engineered and executed in compliance with DoD standards and industry best practices.
You will lead strategic infrastructure initiatives and advise program leadership on best practices for network plant design, modernization, and sustainment, guiding the integration of physical layer systems with OT, IT networks, and communication facilities.
Position will be located at Patrick SFB. This position is contingent upon successful contract award to V2X.
Responsibilities- Serve as a subject matter expert in ISP/OSP planning and implementation.
- Oversee the survey, design, and implementation of physical fiber and copper cable plants, power connections, conduits, patch panels, and butterfly diagrams.
- Manage restoration of facilities to pre-install or better conditions.
- Support telecommunication projects of varying size, scope, complexity, and location, including preliminary development of the SPRIP.
- Conduct site surveys, document current ISP/OSP configurations, and design and optimize supporting infrastructure.
- Approve SDPs and final SPRIP, define requirements for circuit testing, and follow all applicable standards, including the National Electric Code.
- Assist in providing an IUID Marking Plan and a procurement LOM.
- Oversee deployment teams for survey, installation, testing, and QA activities, and coordinate pre-implementation.
- Approve engineering implementation plans and project drawings, perform quality checks, and support safe work environments.
- Identify and resolve complex project problems, oversee systems pre-tests and acceptance tests, and ensure installations meet safety standards and work site conditions.
- Supervise ISP/OSP engineers or subcontractors, plan and lead major technology assignments, evaluate performance results, and function as a technical subject matter expert across multiple project assignments.
Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and AutoCAD.
Working EnvironmentOffice environment with potential to support austere locations.
Physical ActivitiesMust be able to lift / carry 50 lbs.
Education / Certifications- Technical BA / BS Degree; OR
- High School Diploma or Associate Degree.
- Required:
BICSI RCDD certification.
- 10 years of experience with BA / BS Degree; OR
- Minimum of 12 years of experience performing as Lead Wired Engineer or similar on large, complex networks with a High School or Associate Degree.
- 2 years managing / leading ISP / OSP modernization projects.
- Experience supporting DoD projects, specifically network modernization projects.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite, PowerPoint, Visio, and AutoCAD.
This position requires an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret (Tier
3) level clearance.
