The Assistant Director of Esports assists in providing vision, leadership, and planning of activities within the Esports Center. This position provides skill development, training, supervision, and educational support to students and other individuals utilizing the facility. The Assistant Director supports the Director in the day-to-day operations of the Esports Center, including oversight of competitive team operations, academy development, esports intramurals, various community events, camps, and organized esports programming and game nights to increase visibility and engagement within the university and broader community.

Florida Institute of Technology is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE). In upholding the University's tradition of ethical conduct, the Assistant Director of Esports represents the University professionally and honorably and ensures compliance with institutional, NACE, and applicable federal policies and protocols.

In alignment with Student Affairs priorities, the Assistant Director supports campus-wide student engagement initiatives by advising the Student Government Association (SGA) and overseeing the development and administration of intramural programming. This role promotes student leadership, advocacy, and a positive campus experience.

The Assistant Director of Esports serves as a Campus Security Authority ("CSA") as defined by the Clery Act and will comply with University policies regarding crime reporting. This position is also designated as a Responsible Employee under Title IX and is required to report incidents of sexual misconduct and related concerns to the University's Title IX Coordinator or appropriate designee.

Responsibilities Include:

* Support the Esports Center with oversight, and administration of competitive esports programming, including practices, competitions, travel coordination, roster management, and compliance with National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) requirements.

* Develop and manage a comprehensive Esports Intramurals Program in partnership with the University Intramurals Office, overseeing scheduling, rule enforcement, student staffing, and participant engagement.

* Assist with recruitment initiatives, evaluation of prospective esports athletes, coordination of tryouts, match scheduling, and ensuring appropriate staff supervision during competitions and events.

* Plan and execute campus-wide esports programming, including leagues, tournaments, camps, organized game nights, and community events designed to increase visibility and broaden student participation.

* Partner with Residence Life, Orientation, and campus partners to develop targeted engagement initiatives, including hall-based competitions and First-Year Game Night programming to enhance early student connection and belonging.

* Foster student development in esports student leadership, strategic thinking, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal accountability through mentorship and structured programming.

* Help advise the Student Government Association alongside the Dean of Students. Support student leaders in governance, planning, budgeting, and policy compliance.

* Develop inclusive programming initiatives for commuter, transfer, and international student populations to strengthen community integration and support institutional retention goals.

* Assist the Director in organizing, implementing, and enforcing Esports Center policies and operational procedures to ensure a safe, professional, and well-managed facility. Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate student staff, interns, volunteers, and support personnel.

* Track participation metrics and engagement trends within competitive and recreational programming to support Student Affairs retention initiatives and institutional assessment efforts.

* Support live production, streaming, social media strategy, and branding initiatives to enhance program visibility and external outreach, including collaboration with community stakeholders within Brevard County.

* Ensure compliance with University policies, NACE regulations, and applicable federal guidelines. Serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and Responsible Employee under Title IX, maintaining awareness of reporting obligations and institutional protocols. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Esports, Dean of Students, or designee

Requirements Include:

* Bachelor's degree required;
Master's degree preferred in Sport Management, Higher Education Administration, Business, Student Affairs, or a related field.

* Minimum of two years' experience in Esports

* Experience supporting collegiate esports competitive programming, including team operations, recruitment coordination, scheduling, and travel logistics, with familiarity with the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) or similar governing bodies.
