Role Responsibilities

Uncover your impact and see how your organizational skills shape wildfire logistics. As a Wildfire Logistics Assistant reporting to the Logistics Coordinator in one of Alberta’s Forest Area Offices, you play an integral role in supporting wildfire needs.

In this dynamic, ever-changing environment, your collaboration with various parties is essential. With the guidance of the Logistics Coordinator and Duty Officer, your demonstrated communication skills and agility ensure success in managing changing priorities and coordinating resources.

Responsibilities
  • Resource Coordination:
    Hire and coordinate various contracted resources for fire operations and pre-suppression needs, including Heavy Equipment, Firetack Crews, Fuel, Incident Camps and Facilities, Medics, Security, and Single Resource Personnel.
  • Communication And Coordination:
    Effectively communicate with supervisors, duty officers, and other internal and external wildfire associates as needed. Coordinate the sharing of personnel and equipment resources to other areas, both within and outside the province/country (import/export).
  • Tracking And Reporting:
    Maintain various tracking systems (databases, spreadsheets, etc.) for procured resources, employee and contractor day counts, and work assignments to ensure real-time updates and situational awareness.
  • Emergency Response Support:
    Provide logistical support to Incident Management Teams (IMT) during emergency response situations. Be available for travel to work in other forest areas, both within and outside the province.
  • Data Entry And Documentation:
    Ensure accurate data entry and adherence to SOPs and business rules. Intake and document information received through multiple mediums, such as phone calls, emails, and face-to-face conversations.
  • Procurement Services:
    Assist in procurement services, such as accommodations, vehicle rental, ATV rentals, and facilities, following established procurement guidelines.
  • Financial Operations:
    Assist with accurate review of invoices for services and contractor time certificates. Oversee purchases and reconciliation of procurement cards within department financial guidelines.
