Reporting to the Associate Director of Utility Distribution Systems, the Engineering Supervisor leads a team of professionals responsible for all aspects of utility engineering. This role provides technical leadership and strategic direction to ensure long-term system planning while driving performance improvements across the utility's infrastructure. To succeed in this role, you'll need strong leadership abilities, a deep understanding of the utility industry, exceptional communication skills, and a genuine commitment to fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
The Engineering Supervisor is an on-site position located in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Relocation Assistance is available for the successful candidate. Your key responsibilities
- Lead professional engineering teams to deliver high-quality, efficient, and timely results.
- Provide expert technical guidance, review, and approval for distribution engineering designs, studies, and construction packages.
- Identify and address system reliability challenges by developing effective mitigation strategies.
- Monitor system capacity and contribute to long-term planning initiatives, including growth forecasting and infrastructure needs.

- Knowledge of project management principles, as well as competitive bidding processes, contract negotiation and contract management.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of degree in Electrical Engineering, from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Seven (7) years directly related work experience as a Professional Engineer in the utility industry including experience in asset management and system growth programs, as well as three (3) years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) registered or eligible for registration with Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
- Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
