Education and Work Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Oregon licensed truck driver with demonstrated driving ability and no more than one accident or moving violation within the last 12 months.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience driving larger commercial vehicles.
  • Preferred: trained and certified to operate a forklift.
  • Driver’s License.
Scope of Position

The Production Assistant operates a truck in accordance with Salvation Army policy to support the overall operations of the Thrift Store and Social Services offices. The assistant also assists in processing and pricing donations and placing donations for purchase in the store.

  • Passion for and familiarity with the Salvation Army’s mission, doctrine and local ministries; represent the ideals of the Army in every aspect of work.
  • Ability to follow directions and be familiar with thrift store operations.

  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Positive interaction with coworkers and the public.
  • Ability to complete job assignments, safely operate Salvation Army vehicles and support the overall mission of the Army by appropriately representing the Army in public.
  • Flexibility in the work‑week schedule. Regular and punctual attendance is an essential function.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

It is the responsibility of each employee of The Salvation Army, Medford Citadel Corps, to reach out to people, without discrimination, in the name of The Salvation Army; helping to build whole people—spirit, soul and body— in the name of The Salvation Army.

  • Operate the truck safely in a manner consistent with Salvation Army policy.
  • Receive all items donated in a pleasant and courteous manner.
  • When material is not suitable for resale or on the not accepted list, refuse it in a tactful and polite way.
  • Offer each donor a receipt for Income Tax purposes. Under no circumstances does the Production Assistant place a value on any donation.
  • Ensure material is not damaged in handling by the truck or helpers while being picked up, transported or off‑loaded.
  • Make prescribed deliveries to the thrift store, social services and other programs as necessary.
  • While in the store, assist managers in placing items in the appropriate places.
  • Unload the truck after donation pickups. The truck should never be left with merchandise or other items in the back.
  • Perform a prescribed safety and equipment check each day before and after using the truck, and maintain operation levels for fluids (gas, oil, air, etc.).
  • Attend assigned safety and driver training meetings.
  • Assist with social services pick‑up, delivery, stacking and unloading as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
