SEAFOOD / LEAD CLERK – Fred Meyer

Provide exceptional customer service and create a safe, clean environment in the Meat/Seafood department. Lead and supervise department functions, support day‑to‑day operations, and uphold the Customer 1st strategy. Promote Fred Meyer’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

• Direct and supervise all activities for the Meat/Seafood department
• Support day‑to‑day operations and maintain a safe, clean environment
• Emphasize Customer 1st and encourage associates to deliver excellent service
• Train and develop associates on performance and job responsibilities
• Meet performance goals, schedule, and manage customer volume
• Plan and implement department business plan and sales promotions
• Track inventory, stock, and pricing changes, ensuring accuracy
• Maintain temperature logs and comply with food safety regulations
• Address safety incidents, report risks, and support compliance
• Communicate company information to associates and maintain a cooperative work environment
• Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions
• Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment
• Confidentially handle minor, special‑needs, or elders support if needed

• Effective communication skills
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)
• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Food‑handlers permit (to be obtained after employment)
• Adequate knife handling skills and knife speed

• High school education or equivalent (preferred)
• Management experience (preferred)
• Knowledge of cutting, traying, wrapping, labeling
• Seafood experience
• Retail experience
• Second language skills (speaking, reading, writing)
• Promote trust and respect among associates
• Communicate company/dept information effectively
