SEAFOOD / LEAD CLERK – Fred Meyer
Provide exceptional customer service and create a safe, clean environment in the Meat/Seafood department. Lead and supervise department functions, support day‑to‑day operations, and uphold the Customer 1st strategy. Promote Fred Meyer’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.
Responsibilities- Direct and supervise all activities for the Meat/Seafood department
- Support day‑to‑day operations and maintain a safe, clean environment
- Emphasize Customer 1st and encourage associates to deliver excellent service
- Train and develop associates on performance and job responsibilities
- Meet performance goals, schedule, and manage customer volume
- Plan and implement department business plan and sales promotions
- Track inventory, stock, and pricing changes, ensuring accuracy
- Maintain temperature logs and comply with food safety regulations
- Address safety incidents, report risks, and support compliance
- Communicate company information to associates and maintain a cooperative work environment
- Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions
- Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment
- Confidentially handle minor, special‑needs, or elders support if needed
- Effective communication skills
- Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Food‑handlers permit (to be obtained after employment)
- Adequate knife handling skills and knife speed
- High school education or equivalent (preferred)
- Management experience (preferred)
- Knowledge of cutting, traying, wrapping, labeling
- Seafood experience
- Retail experience
- Second language skills (speaking, reading, writing)
- Promote trust and respect among associates
- Communicate company/dept information effectively
- Team collaboration to achieve store goals
- Performance goal setting and empowerment
- Scheduling skills to manage customer volume
- Training & appraisal participation
- Adherence to laws, company guidelines, and food safety regulations
- Customer service skills (product samples, specials, etc.)
- Inventory management and compliance
- Temperature control and log maintenance
- Safety program reinforcement and incident reporting
- Conflict resolution and honesty in business info
- Ability to seek assistance and provide support to diverse groups
- Perform essential functions with/without reasonable accommodation
