Position: Library Specialist I

Rogue Community College welcomes applications for a part-time Library Specialist I.

Reliably open library in morning and provide full range of library services to anyone who walks in the door - student faculty/staff, public. Provide a one-stop shop for anyone looking for library materials, having fines & lost items to resolve, needing computer access, study room access, or (in absence of a reference librarian) searching for information, take tuition and fee payments.

Primary

Responsibilities
  • Open and closes library following established procedures
  • Processes material returns
  • Responds to and assists students, employees, and the public
  • Operates cash register
  • Process library material in accordance with policy and procedure
  • Support the training of student workers
  • Cashiering, AR, Tuition payments.
  • Bookstore shipping and receiving.
Other Duties as Assigned
  • May participate in College committees as assigned
  • Engages in professional growth opportunities as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned

This is a Part-time Classified, 19 hour per week (39.28%, 43 weeks/year) position in the Library Services department. Starting compensation is entry level for Group 4 on the 2025-26 Classified Wage Schedule.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education – A High School Diploma or GED with some college courses, including coursework in office technology, typing, filing, and bookkeeping is required.
  • Experience – A minimum of two years experience in customer service, including six months serving and supporting student needs is required.

Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree.

Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience which ensures the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute for the requirement(s).
