RequiredEducation and Experience
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent;
- Four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience that includes frequent communication with customers or the public, requiring strong service‑oriented skills;
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, business administration, public administration, or another specific area of study as deemed applicable may substitute for the two (2) years of experience.
- Part‑time schedule of up to 24 hours per week
- 3–4 days per week
- Work hours will be scheduled Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The anticipated hiring range for the Administrative Support Technician position is $24.56 (first step) to $25.79 or $27.08 (second or third step). The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education, experience, and qualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials, alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act.
Six steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.
- Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) retirement contributions paid by employer for part‑time, year‑round positions;
- Paid sick leave—one (1) hour accrued for every 30 hours worked;

- Respond to requests for information from the public, internal departments, and employees, including calls, correspondence, customer service interaction, and distributing mail.
- Perform administrative duties, processing mail, filing, etc.
- Produce and distribute documents, extract and compile data for reports, and process records.
- Use prescribed procedures to process, distribute, record, and destroy sensitive information and records; maintain and coordinate records retention activities.
- Assist with the research, submission, administration, compliance, and reporting of department grants.
- Provide administrative oversight for financial processes, including accounting, purchasing, accounts payable/receivable, and purchasing card processing. Code and process invoices, purchase orders, etc.
- Provide backup to the front desk at the Santo Center, providing friendly and outgoing customer service to the general public.
- Process customer transactions for entry into Rogue X, program registration, and facility rentals.
- Handle and reconcile cash from daily transactions.
- Accurately verify and enter employee’s scheduled hours, time off, and overtime; provide hours to the payroll department for timely processing.
- Assist the Office Administrator and department staff with projects, requests for proposals, capital improvements, comprehensive spreadsheets, public outreach, etc. Create, process, and track contracts.
- Act as a liaison with contractors to assist with City, State, and/or Federal processes.
- Act as the technology liaison, including database management.
- Support/assist Office Administrator or other staff with special events, projects, comprehensive spreadsheets, public outreach, etc.
