Position PurposeUnder the general supervision of the School Principal, the classroom teacher facilitates student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; addressing the specific educational needs of individual students, creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, activities, and expectations.
School LibrarianThe Medford Public School Librarian, in collaboration with a district wide team of library and digital learning staff, is responsible for developing and delivering library curriculum, services and support to the school community; and working with students and staff in each school building.
Performance- Develops and administers curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Promotes an environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small-group instruction, and student learning.
- Plans lesson plans and instructional materials.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning.
- Maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and attendance as required by the CBA agreement between the Medford Public Schools and the Medford Teachers Association.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of curriculum and concepts, including all subject matters taught.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation process with regard to performance and professional growth as required in the CBA agreement between the Medford Teachers Association and the Medford Public Schools
Bachelor's Degree Required, Master's Degree Preferred.
Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a Library Teacher.
In-depth knowledge of instructional strategies, information literacy and children's literature.
Familiarity with emerging trends in libraries and digital learning.
Reports to:
Building Principal and Director of Library, Media and Technology.
bSalary is in accordance with the Medford Teachers Association
