An independent school for girls in grades 6-12, guided by the teachings of the Catholic Church, Montrose School was founded in 1979 and is located in the welcoming community of Medfield, 17 miles southwest of Boston. Montrose School attracts a talented and growing student population from over 50 towns and communities. The students and their families as well as the faculty and staff are noted for their commitment to the school’s mission – educating young women who are called to greatness.

Montrose School seeks a full-time 10-month Learning Support Specialist to provide consistent support for students with diverse learning needs. Working within the Learning Support team, the successful candidate will provide both pull-out and occasional push-in services to ensure student success across the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide weekly pull out support to students, including executive function coaching, study skills support, and assistance with long-term projects, papers, and presentations.
  • Deliver one-on-one and small group pull-out services, specifically focused on literacy instruction for reading and writing in middle school.
  • Offer specific skills and content support to guide student mastery in targeted subject areas.
  • Facilitate communication among students, teachers, and parents to support students when they fall behind or encounter new challenges.
  • Provide push-in support for teacher education and differentiation in the classroom.
  • Support a focused working environment and facilitate assessments for students requiring extended time or make-up work.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Background in Special Education. Orton-Gillingham or Wilson training preferred.
  • Deep understanding of differentiation to support literacy instruction in middle school.
  • Strong knowledge of adolescent developmental needs and educational best practices is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency with technology, including Zoom, Canvas, Veracross, and Google Suite.
    • Math intervention experience is a significant plus.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain sound judgment, and uphold strict confidentiality.
    • Proven ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude aligned with the school mission.
    • Commitment to professionalism and timeliness.
