Position: AVIATION TECHNICIAN

Overview

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C., is hiring an Aviation Technician in Richmond, Virginia. The Aviation Technician is responsible for the daily maintenance and repair of various aircraft, including the Gulfstream G600, Challenger 350, and Citation Encore. Required certifications: FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certification; FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) Certification.

Experience:

a minimum of five years' experience repairing aircraft engines, including at least three years in a Part 91 or Part 135 environment; experience with large cabin corporate aircraft is strongly preferred; demonstrated knowledge of planning and implementing maintenance programs and control systems; extensive experience troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical repairs; high school diploma or GED with computer-based aircraft recordkeeping.

Responsibilities
  • Must have thorough knowledge of aircraft engines to troubleshoot and analyze high-level problems/issues quickly and improvise repairs using logic and critical thinking.
  • Familiarity with FAA LOAs and MEL creation/management.
  • Must have excellent mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to interact with customers on a professional level.
  • Must be a strong communicator with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be self-directed, well organized, and able to prioritize workload while providing excellent customer service.
  • Must have ability to repair Caterpillar and competitive components and machines.
  • Demonstrate ability to learn and apply new knowledge.
Physical Requirements

Physical requirements must be met for the Aviation Technician, including standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; climbing or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; talking or hearing; sitting; lifting up to 70 pounds; and various vision abilities (close, distance, peripheral, depth, and focus).
