Fire Technician II – Richmond, VA
Salary: $74,000.00–$
Job OverviewTotal Safety is a leading provider of integrated safety and compliance services. We are looking for a Fire Technician II to provide service inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair for fire equipment, including portable and semi‑portable fire extinguishers, lifesaving equipment, fire and gas detection systems, foam systems, dry chemical systems, navigational aids, gaseous suppression systems, and sprinkler systems.
Responsibilities- Perform shop service and field inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire equipment.
- Complete all documentation associated with inspection and repair in a timely and accurate manner.
- Conduct detailed visual inspections and system functional tests of various systems and equipment.
- Conduct pre‑job, job update, and post‑job completion briefs.
- Assist in stocking, staging, and loading equipment for delivery.
- Maintain work areas and the assigned vehicle or trailer.
- Operate electronic safety and communications systems.
- Rig and use a wide range of safety equipment.
- Work onshore and offshore as necessary.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards:
State, OSHA, NFPA, CFR, Coast Guard, and ABS regulations. - Proficiency in Personal Protection Equipment and Respiratory Protection.
- Forklift experience or ability to obtain certification.
- Ability to obtain a TWIC card and pass required safety testing.
- Driver’s license with DOT hazardous endorsement (if required).
- State Fire Licenses or NICET Level II testing (or NICET III) in two disciplines of fire protection.
Shop and field environments with exposure to cold, hot, wet, humid, outside weather conditions, and vibration. May be exposed to high pressure, chemicals, and traffic. Noise level is usually moderate.
Educational RequirementsHigh School diploma or GED and at least two (2) years of field experience in fire protection, petrochemical, oil refinery, or related industry. Associate degree in science or technical area strongly preferred.
