Overview
Registered Nurse (RN) - Nurse Manager - Progressive Care Unit - Memorial Regional Medical Center
Position supports a 21-bed Progressive Care Unit (stepdown) with high-acuity care for postoperative cardiac surgery, general surgery, septic patients, respiratory failure, DKA, and advanced heart failure. RNs are supported through telemetry and ACLS certifications.
Responsibilities- Coordinate administrative and clinical practice for the assigned nursing unit with twenty-four hour accountability.
- Provide management and clinical support to other nursing units and house-wide as required.
- Serve as a professional role model, mentor, and clinical resource/educator for nurses and the health care team.
- Develop unit goals and objectives with staff to improve patient outcomes and create a culture of excellence.
- Represent the unit as a liaison to internal and external customers.
- Participate in professional development activities and hospital-wide committees.
- Demonstrate various styles of management and participate in unit budget development with monitoring and variance analysis.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing. A BSN or higher degree is preferred.
- Must possess current license as a Registered Nurse from the State of Virginia or awaiting reciprocity.
- Must maintain current CPR certification.
- Work requires knowledge of organization and operation of a patient care unit and nursing care techniques, generally acquired through three to five years of professional nursing experience with progressively more responsibility.
- Broad knowledge of clinical, psychological, and pathophysiological theories related to nursing diagnosis and treatment; ability to perform a range of nursing techniques.
- Previous supervisory or charge nurse experience with financial management and personnel supervision responsibilities.
