Patient Care Technician (PCT) - Memorial Regional Medical Center

Unit: CPC

Shifts:

Nights, 7pm-7am, 36 hours per week, including every other weekend

A Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides basic health care and support to patients under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional. The PCT is responsible for sanitizing and cleaning patients’ rooms, monitoring patients’ health and vital signs, and assisting patients with basic needs such as feeding and grooming.

• Provides basic patient care including care and comfort, vital sign measurement, personal care and hygiene, and assisting with mobility.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and/or concerns.
• Provides high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff.
• Documents patient care accurately, precisely, and in a timely manner when applicable.
• Participates in hand-off/reporting of pertinent information upon patient arrival and departure.
• Performs delegated tasks once competency has been validated.
• Assists in mobilizing patients using therapeutic transfer techniques to foster independence and safety.
• Encourages patient independence and individualized care based on patient interests and preferences.

• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire; must obtain from an approved source prior to direct patient care)
• Must have completed one of the following (required): nursing aide training program OR successful completion of STNA State Tested Nurse Aide (OH LTC if applicable) OR CNA Certified Nurse Aide OR Nurses Aide state testing OR completed a nursing program with clinical nursing course and rotation OR 1 year of relevant clinical experience

• Recent experience in acute care, physician’s office, home health/hospice, or long-term care facility with a preference for the setting of the application (preferred, not required)

• Problem-solving skills with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Professional interaction with staff and patients
• Ability to be proactive in a rapidly changing environment
