Overview
As a Locum Physician in Gastroenterology, you will deliver essential outpatient and hospital-based gastroenterological care, including complex procedures such as endoscopies, biopsies, and esophageal dilatations. This role is vital to ensuring seamless patient care coverage during staffing gaps, offering a unique opportunity to work in a diverse clinical environment with onsite labs and imaging facilities. Your expertise will support patient diagnoses and treatments, contributing to improved health outcomes within our healthcare community.
Required Skills
- Medical degree (MD or DO) with valid medical license in Virginia or eligible for licensure
- Board Certification or Eligibility in Gastroenterology
- Proficiency in performing esophageal dilatation, manometry, endoscopies, biopsies, EUS, ERCP, and related procedures
- Strong diagnostic skills with the ability to interpret complex clinical data
- Excellent communication and patient management skills
- Ability to work independently in a hospital and outpatient settings
- Experience with Epic EMR system
- Possession of additional certifications such as ACLS or BLS
- Past experience working in hospital call or similar high-volume settings
- Knowledge of advanced endoscopic techniques and procedures
- Medical degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 2 years of post-residency gastroenterology experience in a hospital or outpatient setting
- Prior locum or temporary staffing experience preferred but not mandatory
- Active Virginia medical license or eligible for licensure
- Ability to start promptly and commit to scheduled shifts
- Availability for a credentialing process estimated at approximately 90 days
- Willingness to travel and cover shifts during specified open dates
- Compliance with all hospital and state-specific credentialing and certification requirements
