A hospital-based gastroenterology service in Mechanicsville, Virginia is seeking a Board Certified Gastroenterologist for multiple locum tenens coverage blocks due to a lack of coverage. This role includes hospital call coverage, outpatient GI responsibilities, and a full range of advanced endoscopic procedures.
STAT need available for select dates.

No trauma designation
Average: 8 procedures per week
Mix includes: GSI, Hepatology, RGA, Surgery, Colon, EGD, ERCP
Esophageal dilatation & manometry
Esophageal manometry interpretation
Small bowel biopsy
Lower GI endoscopy
Sigmoidoscopy
Colonoscopy
Liver biopsy
Sengstaken/Blakemore tube insertion & management
ERCP - Required
EUS - Preferred
Upper GI endoscopy, including:
Biopsy
Foreign body removal
Fulguration of bleeding (cautery or laser)
Injection and banding of varices
Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
PEG placement
EMR:
Epic
Board Certified in Gastroenterology - Required
Active Virginia medical license - Required
ERCP - Required
EUS - Preferred
Flu shot - Required
COVID vaccine - Highly preferred
Clean malpractice history required for temporary privileges
Must be available for an open shift to be considered
