Position SummaryThis position performs measurement system development and provides metrology of various molded components, extruded tubes, etc., for development/validation activities. The ideal candidate must be able to work in a team‑oriented, fast‑paced environment.
Responsibilities- Provide technical direction to Metrology Department personnel in inspection, production support, and process validation activities.
- Support engineering teams through sample measurements, MSD/MSA, drawing reviews & validation planning.
- Develop and update standard operating procedures for the metrology department.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement activities.
- Collaborate with engineering for the design and manufacture of fixturing.
- Help in establishing and updating a cost model for metrology.
- Understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and train other team members as necessary.
- Measurement system development and analysis (MSD, MSA, Gage R&R, etc.).
- Operate and write routines for automated optical measurement equipment.
- Operate and write routines for coordinate measurement machines (CMM).
- Operate mechanical measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauge pins, etc.).
- Stay abreast of developments in measurement technology and recommend equipment to expand capacity and capability.
- Organize activities in the measurement lab to meet production and project schedules.
- Proficiency in personal computer software (Microsoft Office).
- Ability to work and provide direction to team members.
- Effective communication skills (written/verbal).
- Ability to integrate written and verbal instructions.
- Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent job‑related experience.
- 5 years of inspection experience, specifically using coordinate measuring equipment.
- Experience with Minitab and Solidworks preferred.
