House Supervisor Job Summary:
Serves as an extension of hospital administration and management staff in their absence. Serves as a member of Nursing Leadership. Collaborates with leadership and staff of other departments/services, and providers to ensure quality care is provided to the patients/families served. Position maintains and monitors clinical standards, and maintains shift line responsibility for fiscal, human, and material resources.

Proactively matches existing human and material resources throughout the assigned shift
Identifies ways to improve customer service, streamline care processes and lower costs
Actively participates in the identification and resolution of problems/issues and concerns that impede the delivery of quality care to patients and families
Responds to and provides leadership for security and building facility issues that involve patients and visitors
Implements contingency plans for timely patient placement when patient volumes exceed available resources and provides detailed information to leadership as appropriate
Demonstrates the core values in all interactions with staff, customers and the public
Communicate appropriate information effectively, accurately and timely to the appropriate director or senior leader.
Initiates and supports change by utilizing the input of experts, critical thinking, and the empowerment of others
In collaboration with other department leaders, demonstrate the ability to understand the staffing matrix and to staff the departments appropriately
May perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Completes the initial investigation of all accidents (visitor, patient, employee) that occur on hospital property
Responds to all patient emergencies and hospital emergency codes and fills the role of incident commander until incident is resolved or the incident command structure is expanded and the role is assumed by another individual
Assists providers and nursing staff in resolving issues related to the EMR
Continuously rounds on all nursing units, providing assistance with patient care where needed and when able.
Provides nursing assistance for procedures
Submits patient information to the utilization review vendor when the utilization review coordinator is not on duty
Management Accountabilities:
Does not have any direct reports but serves as an extension of management and administration in their absence. In the absence of management, carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
House Supervisor Experience:
Minimum:
Three or more years of experience in a clinical role required
Preferred:
House Supervisor or other leadership experience preferred
Licensed in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse prior to the date of hire
ACLS , PALS, NRP, and TNCC verified within one year of hiring
NIH Stroke Scale competency required within one year of hiring
