Position: Mental Health Social Worker (LCSW) - Veteran Affairs Outpatient Clinic

Valor Healthcare is looking for a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or equivalent counselor/therapist (LPC or LMFT)

Join our team at the Veteran Affairs (VA) Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in McMinnville, TN. In this role you will be working with an all‑adult veteran patient population for therapy and counseling. We offer a competitive salary, excellent benefits, generous time off and a weekday schedule.

Schedule

Clinic hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 – 4:30 PM.

Core Responsibilities
  • Perform initial and follow‑up evaluations, including assessments.
  • Engage the veteran, core, and expanded PACT team members in treatment planning.
  • Provide a range of treatment services, including individual therapy.
  • Focus on behavior activation and short‑term needs related to diabetes, heart conditions, depression, anxiety, and adjustment disorders.
  • Offer evidence‑based psychotherapies as necessary and appropriate.
  • Provide emergency care for all patients enrolled in the CBOC, including referrals for emergency primary care, psychiatric medication evaluation, or coordination of inpatient psychiatric admissions.
  • Offer crisis intervention, address presenting complaints, coordinate family conferences, and serve as liaison to family members.
  • Provide case management to veterans and families throughout the continuum of care.
  • Address advance directives and organ donation in accordance with acceptable standards.
  • Input all patient information into VISTA/CPRS.
  • Complete all clinical reminders “due” at each patient visit.
  • Participate in program planning and development, making recommendations for policy and procedural changes.
  • Collaborate in performance improvement processes and comply with Valor and VA performance measures.
  • Obtain veteran feedback and work to enhance services as needed.
  • Comply with all Valor and VA training requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Fulfill compliance requirements of OIG, JC, EOC, lab compliance, and other related items.
  • Focus on excellent clinical outcomes through specified VA guidelines.
  • Provide excellent customer service to veterans, families, colleagues, and clinic visitors both in person and by phone.
  • Collaborate with clinic leadership to resolve veteran concerns or complaints.
  • Participate in outreach events to support enrollment initiatives.
  • Support patient enrollment and retention for appointments, follow‑up visits, or nurse visits.
  • Embrace and support new initiatives, whether clinical or operational.
Requirements Qualifications
  • Must have one of the following educations:
    • Doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA).
    • Master’s degree, or higher, in Social Work from a program registered by the Department of Education, with specific training dealing with adult patients. Equivalent degrees (Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, etc.) will be considered and are subject to final approval from the local VA.
  • Maintain a valid, unrestricted LCSW (or equivalent) license in the desired state of employment and be able to practice independently at the master’s degree level.
  • Have 1–3 years of post‑master direct counseling experience with adult patients.
  • Credentialed and in good standing through the Veterans Health Administration (VA).
  • Hold current certification in Basic Life Support (renewed as required – e.g., AHA valid for two years).
  • Strong computer skills, including EMR experience.
