Software Engineer; Traffic control​/simulation

Piper Companies is seeking a Software Engineer to join us in Mclean, Va
. The Software Engineer will be responsible for designing software solutions to improve traffic safety.

• Traffic analysis:
  Study how traffic moves through roadway links, intersections & entire transportation networks
• Design solutions to improve traffic safety:
  Smart signals, sensors, automated traffic management, operational improvements, infrastructure upgrades
• Traffic modeling & Simulating:
  Run simulation software, build traffic scenarios, use hardware in the loop systems, develop scripts or code to automate or customize solutions, work with API’s to conduct modes, tools, or systems
• Testing & Validation:
  Test accuracy of traffic models, Simulation performance, functionality of ITS Systems and equipment

• Basic understanding of robotics & Autonomous systems and technologies
• Strong skills in Python and Linux environments (C++ preferred)
• Experience with unit and integration testing to support CI workflows
• Competency with data interface adapters (ex: JSON or XML) and API integrations
• Experience using Git for version control
• 3-7 years of experience in related field
• Bachelors degree in IT related field
