This senior-level Network Engineer supports mission‑focused IT operations by assisting the Lead System Administrator and Lead Network Engineer. The role involves designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting secure network infrastructures across OSI Layers 1–3, with a strong emphasis on Cisco‑based environments and intelligence‑community experience. This role is ideal for an experienced, hands‑on network engineer with deep Cisco expertise and intelligence‑community background who can manage secure, complex network environments end‑to‑end—from physical infrastructure to enterprise connectivity and security.
Responsibilities- Support system and network administration activities.
- Develop and implement IT/network plans.
- Monitor and manage networks using SNMP tools.
- Troubleshoot network issues using protocol analyzers.
- Build and maintain networks (Layer 1–3), including TCP/IP addressing and subnetting.
- Install, configure, and document cabling infrastructure.
- Manage networking hardware (switches, routers, hubs, transceivers).
- Configure and manage firewalls, IP blocking, and VPNs.
- Maintain network monitoring and security compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or 4 years equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of experience with Cisco Catalyst switches and Cisco networking hardware.
- 7+ years of intelligence‑community experience as a network engineer/administrator.
- Hands‑on Cisco firewall experience (ASA, Firepower).
- Strong knowledge of Cisco Catalyst and Nexus platforms.
- Experience with SAN/Fibre‑Channel (Cisco MDS), virtualization (vPC, Ether Channel), and VPNs.
- Familiarity with Linux, Solar Winds, JIRA, AWS/Cloud.
- Ability to perform physical‑layer tasks (cabling, racking).
- Strong troubleshooting, project management, and documentation skills (Visio diagrams).
- Experience in mission‑driven, fast‑paced environments.
