NCIA was established on 1 July 2012 from a merger of several NATO entities. It has a 65-year legacy of supporting NATO operations, missions, and exercises and is on the front lines against cyber threats, protecting NATO's networks 24/7. NCIA provides expertise and services that are critical to NATO's ability to fulfill its core tasks of consultation, collective defence, and crisis management.
- Design, develop, and maintain data collection, transformation, and integration processes across multiple on-premises and cloud RDBMS platforms;
- Create, optimize, and maintain analytical and monitoring dashboards in Power BI, Grafana, and SSRS;
- Implement and manage automation tools and scripts for routine database administration, data extraction, and reporting;
- Produce dynamic reports and standardized templates to support database configuration management, performance monitoring, and lifecycle tracking;
- Manage installation, configuration, upgrades, and backups of database systems and related products both on-premises and in the cloud;
- Establish and maintain data governance and quality standards within reporting and integration processes;
- Stay current with database technology roadmaps, contributing to continuous improvement of lifecycle management, security, and data reliability.
Essential education, experience, and training:
- Extensive experience in data engineering, with a focus on designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines;
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server and other relational database management systems (RDBMS), including cloud-based platforms;
- Solid understanding of high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) architectures, such as server clustering and virtualized infrastructures;
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft data and reporting technologies (Power BI, SSRS, SSIS) and familiarity with Grafana;
- Experience in automation for database and data pipeline management tasks;
- Skilled in developing automation scripts using Power Shell/TSQL or Python to enhance data collection, transformation, and reporting workflows;
- Ensures data quality, consistency, and governance across integrated systems, following organizational data standards and compliance requirements; and
- Implements secure data handling practices including access control, encryption, and audit logging.
A valid Personnel Security Clearance (PSC) at level NATO Secret is required
