Sr. Distinguished Engineer, Software Engineer - Enterprise data storage and consumption platforms

We are the Data Storage & Consumption platform team within Enterprise Data at Capital One. You will lead technical initiatives to mature and grow the consumption platforms used by all lines of business in Capital One, improving scalability, operational excellence, performance and resiliency.

• Build highly resilient operational platforms capable of 8,000‑10,000 users and 4 nines availability.
• Prototype, benchmark and evaluate new features for performance, cost and availability.
• Operate with a platform mindset, understanding multi‑tenancy, serverless computing and distributed system patterns.
• Serve as a trusted advisor for specific technology domains, shaping use cases, implementation, proofs of concept and exploratory analysis.
• Communicate and influence key stakeholders across the enterprise at all levels.
• Promote awareness and adoption of modern technologies, share consumer and engineering benefits to gain buy‑in.
• Encourage engineering excellence by reusing and innersourcing solutions where possible.
• Balance expertise sharing with an inclusive environment that champions others’ ideas and grows broader team skills.
• Help create next‑generation tech talent through mentoring and recruiting.

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least 9 years of software engineering experience.
• At least 5 years on AWS cloud platform.
• At least 2 years with ML and AI technologies.
• At least 3 years working with Big Data (Spark).

• 5+ years with Big Data technologies.
• 5+ years architecting and delivering software systems or platforms.
• 3+ years Dev Ops experience using AWS, Python, Terraform, Jenkins, Git Hub and Artifactory.
• 6+ years in cloud native platforms.
• 5+ years in open source frameworks.
• 3+ years in Test Automation.
