JOB OVERVIEW

The Sr. Resident Care Director (RCD) serves as the nursing clinical leader for the community and is responsible for leading and managing health and wellness, coordinating care and services to residents, overseeing and implementing all care programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, recruiting and performance management.

RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Duties

As a part of the Sunrise team, supporting our Mission, Principles of Service and Core Values is fundamental. The role includes, but is not limited to, the following essential functions:

Managing Health and Wellness

  • Provide strategic leadership for resident care by directing and monitoring the nursing team in accordance with state/provincial law to promote resident health and wellness.
  • Provide clinical care through the nursing process: assessments, progress notes, care plan development, documentation, and evaluation of outcomes.
  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other clinical providers to coordinate care and services.
  • Complete required training within specified time frames (Sunrise University and regulator requirements).
  • Serve as the CLIA Director as applicable for the community and per federal/state requirements.
  • Partner with Neighborhood Coordinators to promote integrated wellness operations and care.
  • Collaborate with Sales to determine community capability and assess move-in eligibility.

Medication Management

  • Provide strategic leadership for medication care management within legal requirements to promote resident health.
  • Oversee the medication management program to promote safety, including onboarding, training, and performance reviews.
  • Fulfills required training, including Sunrise University and regulator requirements.
  • Provide clinical training and education to nurses, medication care managers and other care providers; perform skill evaluation of the care team.

Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance

  • Track, trend, and report clinical quality data to identify risk.
  • Participate in the community Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement committee.
  • Lead clinical quality and process improvement initiatives to mitigate risk and improve outcomes.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and manage performance of clinical team members.
  • Complete staffing and scheduling of direct report teams per operational and budget guidelines.
  • Partner with the leadership team to promote resident safety and compliance with Risk Management and OSHA programs.
  • Serve as ICC and CLIA Director as applicable; oversee infection control programming and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Federal and State/Provincial regulations and nursing boards.

Financial Management

  • Manage department budget, including labor and expenses, and understand impact on the community's bottom line.
  • Process and submit monthly expenses and budget data per Sunrise policies and controls.
  • Coordinate with the team to optimize staffing and cross-training when assigned to a community.
  • Understand internal costs associated with Sunrise resident care programs.

Training, Leadership & Team Member Development

  • Partner with Regional Director of Residential Care and/or Executive Director in Sunrise University training and self-study programs.
  • Onboard new RCD leaders and other department coordinators as needed.
  • Develop knowledge of state/provincial regulations and ensure compliance through coaching.
  • Complete clinical team staffing and scheduling per guidelines when assigned to a community.
  • Hold clinical team accountable, address issues, and document actions.
  • Attend regular meetings and participate in QAPI and other duties as directed by leadership.
  • Stay current with professional developments through reading and training.
