We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in federal contracting and a proven track record managing month-end close processes, accounts payable, and compliance with government regulations. This role requires accuracy, efficiency, and the ability to support financial operations in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities Month-End Close & General Ledger- Lead and manage the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure all transactions comply with GAAP, FAR, and CAS.
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
- Conduct monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Analyze variances and provide actionable insights to management.
- Maintain audit-ready files and support internal and external audits.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decisions.
- Oversee AP processes, including invoice review, coding, and approvals.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, payments, and billing.
- Maintain compliance with FAR and internal policies.
- Manage vendor relationships and resolve payment discrepancies.
- Prepare AP accruals and reconciliations for month-end close.
- Support 1099 reporting and related tax compliance tasks.
- Prepare and submit government-required reports related to payroll and labor compliance.
- Assist with audits (internal, external, and government) by providing necessary documentation.
- Stay up-to-date on federal contracting regulations and accounting standards.
- Support daily accounting operations and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Contracts, Program Management, and HR.
- Ensure proper labor charging and billing in compliance with contract terms.
- Provide insights on payroll and AP trends to guide business decisions.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements to strengthen internal controls.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in government contracting.
- Strong understanding of Service Contract Act (SCA) compliance and wage determinations.
- Hands-on experience with Unanet ERP system required.
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with payroll systems.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Unanet or other government contractor accounting systems.
- Knowledge of FAR, CAS, and other federal contracting regulations.
