Principal Financial Analyst

Overview

Principal Financial Analyst — Business Cards and Payments (BC&P) Finance. The Business Cards and Payments organization is on a mission to change banking for good by paving the way for businesses to do more business. This role supports BC&P’s growth agenda by guiding senior business leaders through a multi-year journey of transformational growth. The analyst will work with senior-level business partners to influence strategic decisions around optimizing investments, conducting monthly financial reviews and forecast updates, and guiding leaders as they develop the business strategy.

This role requires strong communication, problem solving, strategic thinking, and influencing skills to effectively articulate outcomes of analysis, partner with leadership on financial implications of strategic growth initiatives, and develop presentations for senior leadership audiences.

• Develop the Annual Budget, Monthly Financial Forecast, and the Long-Term Financial Plan
• Develop financial models and analyses to support growth and strategic initiatives
• Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators including revenue, expenses, and capital expenditures
• Monitor performance indicators, highlight trends, and analyze causes of variance
• Analyze complex financial information and reports to support timely financial recommendations for management decisions
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and analysis
• Identify industry trends and insights related to competitors’ strategies and relative financial performance (e.g., peer benchmarking)
• Perform ad hoc analyses using data from internal financial systems and external market databases; package insights into clear presentations
• Work with business leads to identify areas and processes for driving efficiencies
• Implement and work with business intelligence tools and dashboard reports

• Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
• At least 3 years of experience in financial analysis, financial modeling, or a combination

• Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative major (Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering) or military experience
• Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Accounting, Finance, or Economics; or professional licenses such as Certified Treasury Professional or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CFM
• At least 5 years of experience in financial analysis and financial modeling
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
• At least 3 years of experience using SQL, Python, or a combination
• At least 3 years of experience in financial services, banking, or technology industries
• At least 3 years of experience partnering with senior leaders and internal stakeholders

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked. McLean, VA: $120,800 - $137,900 for Principal Financial Analyst;
Richmond, VA: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Financial Analyst.

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered will be reflected solely in the offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
