Pen Fed is hiring a (Hybrid) Sr. Analyst, Treasury at our Tysons, Virginia location. The Senior Analyst, Treasury role will provide a unique opportunity to help set direction on interest rate risk management matters including trade strategy development and execution, counter party risk management, model risk management, and management reporting. The incumbent in this high-profile role will work closely to assist the Director in all aspects of managing Pen Fed’s multi‑billion dollar interest rate derivatives hedging portfolio.

This role is a key part of the Treasury team and will focus on daily monitoring, management and trade execution of Pen Fed’s derivatives risk management hedging portfolio. The Treasury Group’s overall responsibility is to manage the funding, liquidity, derivatives, investments, and interest rate risk for the entire organization. The team partners across other areas within finance, multiple lines of business and various functional areas to develop funding & liquidity strategies and manage interest rate risk through normal and stressed market environments.

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, computer science, mathematics, or other quantitative discipline and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions required. MBA and/or CFA professional certification desired.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in a financial institution with a specific focus in investment banking or markets, and with a background transacting (or supporting those who transact) over‑the‑counter derivative products or other financial markets products.
  • Experience with Excel, PowerPoint and programming languages such as Python and SQL proficiency with data visualization/BI tools, such as Power

    BI and Tableau desired.
  • Experience with Derivative Path or other sophisticated derivatives pricing models that can value derivative hedging instruments.
  • Knowledge of financial concepts used in present value analysis, financial modeling, and capital markets.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and implement rapid changes in project direction.
Supervisory Responsibility

This position will not supervise employees.

Licenses and Certifications

CFA professional certification preferred, but not required.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.

Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.

Travel

Ability to travel on a limited basis to various worksites and be on‑call is required.

  • Perform forward‑thinking pre‑trade market analysis, transaction execution support, post‑trade documentation review (including hedge accounting designations) and coordination with external bank counter parties to strengthen Pen Fed’s access to market liquidity at competitive prices.
  • Remain current on developments in the capital markets and engage in regular continuing education related to fixed income instruments including mortgage‑related products, interest rate derivatives, (e.g., swaps, swaptions, caps and floors etc.), interest rate risk management and regulatory & legal concepts to ensure the credit union’s derivatives hedging portfolio risk management policies and practices reflect industry best practices.
  • Drive pro‑active derivatives hedging portfolio risk management by identifying, measuring and monitoring Key Risk Indicators, such as market and counter party risk exposures on a daily basis.
  • Partner with internal partners, such as FP&A, Finance Transformation, Accounting, Secondary Marketing & MSR and CPST teams to drive financial risk management innovation and ensure that Pen Fed’s derivatives hedging activity reflects the needs of all stakeholders.
  • Organize and prepare risk management reporting materials for Management Working Groups, Asset Liability Committee (ALCO), the Executive Team and the credit union’s Board of Directors.
  • This is not intended to be an all‑inclusive list of job duties and the position will involve participation in ad hoc projects and other duties in support of the Treasury department’s ongoing treasury and risk management needs.
