About

the Role

We are currently seeking a Product Designer to join our Card Servicing Experience design team. We design the experiences and tools that help our servicing associates help our customers, or help our customers help themselves. The work we do ensures customers can easily navigate any question or problem they have along their journey with us, no matter which path they follow.

Responsibilities
  • Lead work on our agent platform and its associated design system and governance processes.
  • Define and deploy consistent, reusable components and patterns across our product portfolio.
  • Document component tech specs and usage guidelines, including accessibility guidance and usage examples.
  • Create responsive components and documentation via auto layout, constraints, and interactive connections.
  • Apply atomic design methodology to ensure proper level of inheritance within the design system.
  • Efficiently organize and publish new versions of our design library and suite of documentation via branching controls.
  • Manage version control and ensure a single source of truth.
  • Collate and share design system updates with product and tech teams.
  • Perform QA on the technical build of design system components and documentation.
  • Present work to audiences across levels and job functions using a human‑centered approach with data and research insights.
Product Design Expertise

Leverage deep expertise in product design across interaction, visual, and service design to elevate the quality and maturity of the design practice at Capital One. In collaboration with cross‑functional partners, use appropriate tools, platforms, frameworks, and design systems and work with teams to create artifacts that may include journey maps, blueprints, high‑fidelity designs and prototypes.

Design System Expertise

Apply a deep understanding of Figma’s advanced design system features to build and maintain robust, scalable components with nested instances, variants, text‑properties, booleans, and interactive components. Document component tech specs and usage guidelines (e.g., do’s, don’ts, accessibility guidance, and usage examples). Create responsive components and documentation via auto layout, constraints, and interactive connections. Effectively apply atomic design methodology and efficiently organize and publish new versions of our design library and suite of documentation via branching controls with a risk‑averse mindset.

Provide a single source of design truth by managing access and ensuring version control.

Champion the customer through the design process, leveraging critical‑thinking skills that factor in data, research insights, scalability, and tech constraints.

Understand and apply business and customer strategy, facilitate design process activities with team and partners, negotiating customer needs and business goals for harmonious outcomes.

Actively build an understanding of the potential of tech and data capabilities and emerging technologies and use this knowledge to inform work, identify new opportunities, and help your team navigate technical limitations.
