The primary purpose of the Recreation Fee Technician is to perform a variety of duties associated with the collection, deposit, tracking, and expenditure of fee revenue and donations collected from the public under legal authorities such as the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act. MajorDuties
The major duties of the Recreation Fee Technician position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Perform recurring or standardized budgetary transactions in an automated financial system. Serve as a front-line, uniformed representative of the NPS, answering visitor questions and explaining the area's recreational opportunities, including NPS interpretive services, concession operated facilities and services, campground availability, hiking trails, etc. Perform assignments in accordance with all NPS and U.S. Treasury regulations governing the handling of government funds.

Assist higher level personnel with auditing fee collection program components/systems (e.g. cash registers, road/trail registers, honor systems, automated fee machines or AFMs, donation boxes, etc.); assist in completing audit paperwork and documenting findings; communicate audit results to supervisor. Prepare and complete remittance reports and bank deposits for funds donated and/or collected by others. Review shift reports and count funds collected;
Investigate and proactively resolve routine or recurring discrepancies, and track overages, shortages, and errors.
