Job SummaryAcentra Health is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our growing team. This position will play a key role in the operations of the accounting department to include financial reporting, internal controls, transaction processing, and working closely with the Accounting Director. This role will report directly to the Accounting Director.
- Provide direction and thought leadership in general accounting.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual balance sheet account reconciliations; investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner, ensuring proper supporting documentation, and assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and providing requested documentation.
- Plan, direct and coordinate various accounting projects and directives within accounting.
- Participate in the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.
- Evaluate current accounting operations, internal control systems and contribute to recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.
- Mentor accounting staff and assist in hiring/training as needed.
- Apply technical accounting expertise to ensure accurate treatment for complex transactions.
- Read, understand, and adhere to all corporate policies including policies related to HIPAA and its Privacy and Security Rules.
Required Qualifications /
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree.
- 5 years minimum of job‑related experience.
- 2 years plus finance experience in a government contract related company.
- Familiarity with FAR and CAS principles.
- Proven track record in accounting principles (US GAAP), internal controls and financial reporting and leading good practice.
- Demonstrated experience in Deltek Costpoint and strong Excel skills.
Preferred Qualifications /
Experience:
- Master's in accounting, finance or related.
- Broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex accounting issues.
- CPA and previous experience in public accounting is strongly preferred.
