The Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the company’s general ledger and accounts payable functions. This position requires a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, government accounting standards (FAR, CAS), and experience working in a DCAA‑compliant environment. The ideal candidate will bring both hands‑on technical expertise and a strategic mindset to support month‑end close, audit readiness, and accounts payable.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with full‑cycle general ledger accounting functions.
- Ensure timely and accurate month‑end and year‑end closes.
- Create schedules, account reconciliations and journal entries for accounting areas including debt issuances, leasing arrangements, prepaids, goodwill, intangibles, and other items as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, FAR, and CAS regulations.
- Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards as applicable
- Own expense reporting process including reconciliations, review of vouchers, payment processing, and corrections.
- Serve as a backup to the accounts payable function, as needed.
- Support external audits, including financial, DCAA, and internal control reviews.
- Participate in system upgrades and process improvement initiatives.
- Conduct account research and handle ad‑hoc accounting, reporting, and administrative tasks as necessary.
- Recommend and implement best practices to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
- Collaborate accross the organization to ensure accurate accounting and to resolve issues and discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Promote a positive team environment through all relationships to ensure optimal performance and professional growth.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching to enhance team skills.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 4+ years of accounting experience, managerial experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, FAR, CAS, and indirect rate structures.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large datasets.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong relationship skills.
- Knowledge of Deltek Costpoint accounting software.
- Experience with financial audits and DCAA compliance.
