TRANSPORT DRIVER - WASTEWATER
Section 1 – Position SummaryUnder the direction of Lead Wastewater Plant Operator(s) and Wastewater Plant Supervisor (depending on the size and scope of the facility), the Transport Driver performs wastewater transportation operations, and associated maintenance and monitoring activities; performs work assignments to ensure performance, acceptable asset condition, quality, and health and safety standards are met or exceeded; and performs related work as required to ensure efficient and effective operations.
This position is responsible for the efficient transport of materials to/from wastewater treatment facilities to/from landfills, warehouses, and other locations.
- Responsible for the safe and efficient operation, care and acceptable appearance of assigned vehicle(s) and/or mobile equipment.
- Work collaboratively with supervisory personnel, treatment operators, and other transport drivers to assure optimal efficiency, proper monitoring, and regulatory compliance.
- Perform a range of transportation and materials handling activities including, but not limited to, operation of equipment, light maintenance, monitoring systems, process improvement, record keeping; in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Notify appropriate personnel of needed repairs and renewal; and coordinate with maintenance personnel.
- Maintain thorough logs and records in both written and electronic form as required; use these records to improve the function and efficiency of various operations.
- Accomplish adequate execution and documenting of pre-trip inspections, properly maintaining and performing general housekeeping on assigned vehicle.
- Observe safety guidelines as required by State statutes and as prescribed by the NTMWD. This includes identifying and mitigating safety hazards as well as assisting in the implementation of safety programs.
- Receive shipments, monitor unloading processes, record into inventory, and check shipment documents for compliance to standard.
- Learn and comply with applicable NTMWD policies and procedures.
- Assume the responsibilities of direct supervisor(s) and subordinates as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Requires a valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL).
- Must have three (3) years’ experience operating vehicles that require a Class A CDL license and a good driving record.
- Knowledge of wastewater operations is preferred.
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Must obtain knowledge of compliance requirements, operations and maintenance requirements, and reporting/record keeping requirements.
- Must communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with supervisors, peers, and subordinates to convey information.
- Maintain basic computer skills, and electrical and mechanical knowledge.
