• Under the guidance of a signal, senior traffic technician and signal supervisor, responds to Traffic trouble calls during normal business hours.
• Assists with the maintenance and repair of traffic signals, school flashing/warning beacons, driver feedback signs, roadway lighting and wireless communications.
• Assists preparing work areas and securing job sites by setting up cones, barricades, and other traffic control devices.
• Assists in preparing tools, materials, and equipment necessary for various job assignments.
• Performs preventive maintenance on traffic signal equipment, school flashers, driver feedback signs and other warning beacons.
• Assist with emergency situations after hours and/or on weekends.
• Assists with pulling wires including but not limited to signal cable, communication cable, roadway lighting cable, vehicle detection cable, CAT

• Assists with the installations, repairs, and maintenances of arterial roadway lightings.
• Participates in rotating after hours On-Call schedule.
• Change out special event banners downtown and various other locations in the City.
• Maintains operational records; schedules and fills out work orders (Cityworks™).

• Installs, maintains, and repairs new and existing traffic control signals; replaces signal indications; removes limbs from and/or around signal heads, etc.
• Programs / maintains / repairs school flashing beacons, warning beacons and driver feedback signs.
• Troubleshoots traffic signal cabinet, communication, ptz camera, detection systems, and opticom issues, replace if necessary.
• Builds, installs, and maintains school flashing beacon, driver feedback signs, and other warning beacon assemblies (including foundation, electric components (battery, solar panel, solar controller), signs, heads, LED's, time clock, antenna, wireless communications) without supervision.
• Works with software including but not limited to KITS Advance Transportation Management System (ATMS).
• Maintains high mast lightings which includes re-lamping of light fixtures
• Performs 811 Line Locate requests.
• Performs health check for school flashers and warning flashers.
• Assists with maintaining communications which includes climbing elevated storage tanks (EST).

• Function independently as needed in all aspects of the position without supervision.
• Works with Engineer getting controllers & signal cabinets ready to place into service.
• Assists signal supervisor with training and schedule others with work activities.
• Assists signal supervisor with managing signal equipment inventory in City Works.
• Programs, installs, troubleshoots and maintains Network switches.
• Prepares traffic signal cabinets for "burn-in" testing.
• Installs Battery Back-up system (BBU).
• Installs, repairs, and maintains arterial roadway lightings.
• Performs annual MMUs testing, conflict monitors, BIU's using ATSI test equipment/software.
• Assigns IP addresses for new intersections & equipment.
• Programs master RTC school clocks for five different school districts and individual school clocks in the field w/yearly program.

• Drives to and from assigned work locations.
• Installs, maintains, and repairs new and existing traffic control signals; replaces signal indications; removes limbs from and/or around signal heads, etc.
• Troubleshoot signal systems in order to locate all malfunctions such as shorts, open or grounded circuits, and reason for equipment failure.
• Operates computer and software programs for control of traffic signals and programming time clocks for school beacons.
• Maintains daily work records and prepares reports, i.e., technical studies and diagnostic reports.
• Operates a variety of machinery, equipment, and tools associated with projects and work activities, which may include a bucket truck, utility vehicle, measuring instruments, meters, scopes, testing equipment,…
