BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

Shipping Clerk will support accurate and on time delivery of products to our customers.

Reports To: Shipping Manager

Summary/Objective

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for accurately packing boxes, packing and shipment of quality boxes and product, as well as on time shipping. This position reports to the Shipping Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for pulling orders and verifying the accuracy of orders by checking item numbers, quantities, and customer information against packing lists and sales orders.
  • Ensure proper packaging of goods to prevent damage during transit, using the appropriate materials.
  • Responsible for assembling boxes for products, including building custom boxes for new sizes, and maintaining an adequate stock of pre-assembled boxes to ensure efficient order fulfillment.
  • Responsible for reporting any defective items prior to shipping
  • Assist with loading and unloading boxes on pallets for shipping.
  • Collaborate with the production, warehouse, and customer service teams to ensure smooth order fulfillment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in the shipping department.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the department and company to improve employee performance, quality control, productivity, efficiency and lower cost.

  • Solid knowledge of shipping operations, packing methodologies that are appropriate with varying shipping methods.

  • The ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume shipping environment, ensuring maximum efficiency without sacrificing customer satisfaction or accuracy.
  • Ability to quickly and efficiently handle issues that arise in the shipping process.
  • Adhere to safety standards and operational procedures, as well as wearing and maintaining all required PPE.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

This job operates in a professional manufacturing/warehouse environment. Warehouse environment subject to temperature changes. There are minimal health hazards due to working on or around a forklift. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as telephones, computers, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. In addition, this role operates a forklift and shipping/receiving equipment. This list is not all inclusive.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will frequently need to talk, read, and hear. The role requires standing, walking, climbing stairs, using hands and fingers, reaching, and engaging in repetitive bending and squatting for 8-9 hours a day. The employee must also have the ability to read and understand detailed information, including small print on labels, and perform tasks that require attention to small or intricate details, ensuring accuracy and precision.

Additionally, the ability to lift/move items up to 50 lbs. is required.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In addition, the position may require occasional overtime. In some cases, overtime may be assigned the same day as the need.

Required

Education and Experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years direct shipping experience
  • High School diploma or GED
