Job Description
Collin County is seeking candidates for the position of Chief Misdemeanor Prosecutor. This position manages misdemeanor court activities and provides legal representation to County citizens. The Chief Misdemeanor Prosecutor is responsible for preparing cases for trial by interviewing witnesses and relevant parties, conducting investigations, conducting legal research, preparing trial exhibits, composing legal documents, and preparing oral arguments; managing the daily docket by managing the court calendar, conducting hearings, and filing court motions;
supervising personnel by assisting with case and trial preparation, prioritizing and directing tasks, and overseeing work activities. Performs all ancillary tasks.
Candidates must possess specialized knowledge in a professional or technical field, normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor’s degree. Candidates must have a Doctorate of Jurisprudence and be licensed by the State of Texas to practice law. Prior experience as a Misdemeanor Prosecutor, preferably in Collin County, is required.
