Texas Oncology is looking for a Medical Assistant to join our team. This position will support the Texas Breast Specialists at our McKinney location in the Breast Surgery department. The role will be level 1, 2, or Sr based on candidate experience.

Medical Assistant RoleUnder direct supervision, the Medical Assistant assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment. The assistant promotes efficient patient flow and patient care during exams and procedures, performs clinic support tasks, and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program.
Responsibilities- Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms.
- Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Obtain all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
- Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
- Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
- Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated by RN or physician.
- Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
- Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
- Process prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
- Inform physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
- Perform other administrative duties, including typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, and reception, as requested by supervisor or physician.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
- 0‑3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
- Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
- Minimum three years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Minimum five years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting.
- Current CPR certification required.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Requires full range of body motion, handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, standing and walking for extensive periods, occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 lbs, and corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
