Crisis Support Staff – Life Path Systems
The Crisis Support Staff works under the supervision of the Program Administrator to oversee daily needs of individuals served at the Life Path Systems Crisis Center. Responsibilities include direct observations, providing support for individuals with mental health diagnoses admitted to the Extended Observation Unit (EOU) and Crisis Respite Unit (CRU), coordinating communication with clinical providers, and ensuring overall wellness and recovery of the population.
- Supervise individuals’ daily activities.
- Complete daily observation checks (15-minute for EOU; 60-minute for CRU) and enter notes per state requirements.
- Document and report incidents to the on‑duty nurse, supervisor, or Program Administrator.
- Track changes in mood, behavior, or medication side effects.
- Observe self‑administered medications and assist with medication monitoring.
- Assist individuals with community activities, outings, and unit milieu activities.
- Enforce state regulatory requirements and agency policies.
- Use trauma‑informed, person‑centered language in all verbal and written communications.
- Document progress toward recovery goals, meals consumed, and phone communications.
- Assist with check‑in and check‑out processes for admissions and discharges.
- Perform room checks and collect data for units.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the clinical team, nursing staff, or prescriber.
Expectations include timely documentation, strong time management, effective communication, and participation in daily treatment team meetings.

Due to the 24/7 operation, staff may be required to work on holidays. In case of unforeseen circumstances requiring paid time off, employees must notify their supervisor within 4 hours of scheduled work time. Bilingual staff may receive a stipend and are expected to provide translation services as needed.
Qualifications- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum one year of experience in a behavioral health or substance use disorder center.
- Experience working with individuals with dual diagnoses (mental health and intellectual/developmental disability) strongly preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant strongly preferred.
- Food handler’s certification within 30 days of hire.
- Bilingual (Spanish) highly preferred.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Ability to remain calm in high‑stress situations.
- Proficient crisis intervention and de‑escalation skills.
- Advocacy, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Independent work capability with limited supervision.
- Team collaboration and flexible working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Proficiency in medication administration, first aid, CPR, and emergency communication.
- Ability to follow Medication Administration Records and provide accurate dosages after training.
- Ability to follow menus, prepare recipes, and assist with meals.
- Willingness to learn behavior modification techniques as required for individuals with specific behaviors.
