OverviewTexas Oncology, the largest community oncology provider in the country, is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for the McKinney location in the Medical Oncology department. This role supports physicians and clinicians in patient care, with typical hours Mon‑Fri 8:30 am‑5:00 pm. Depending on experience, the position will be level 1, 2, or Sr.

Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTIP)This optional incentive program may be available for select roles. Awards vest over a three‑year period and are tied to performance and operational success. Awards are reviewed annually and require continued employment.
Responsibilities- Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms.
- Record patient data before each visit: vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Obtain all necessary patient records as required by the physician.
- Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
- Assist physicians with exams and procedures.
- Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated by RN or physician.
- Maintain exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
- Answer patient telephone calls for referrals, pharmacist or nurse inquiries.
- Process prescription phone calls and other patient calls as directed.
- Inform physicians of patient reschedules and no‑shows.
- Perform other administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, and reception as requested.
- May enter orders under provider direction and supervision.
Level 1:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Certificate of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- 0‑3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
- Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
- Some state regulations may require specific certifications.
Level 2 (additional to Level
1):
- Minimum three years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
Level Sr (additional to Level 1 and
2):
- Minimum five years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic.
- Current CPR certification required.
The role requires lifting and carrying patients and items up to 40 lbs, standing and walking for extended periods, and routine manual dexterity. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range are required. Reasonable accommodations are available.
